AC3 audio

AC3 audio can usually be left 'as is' but once in a while you might want to lower the bitrate or downconvert from 5.1 to 2.0 channels. (Sorry BeSweet only handles those types of audio :()

  • Open the AC3 in BeSweet GUI
  • Check 'Boost, Compress Dynamic Range'
  • In the field below the 'BeSweet Profiles' choose AC3
  • On the right, choose AC3&OGG
  • In the AC3 Encoding options, select your desired bitrate, and check 'Create 5.1 AC3' if you are transcoding.
  • Again, on the right, choose BeSweet
  • Now click 'AC3 to AC3' to transcode the audio

MP3 Audio

  • Open the AC3 in BeSweet GUI
  • Select profile 'DSPguru_MP3@128kbps'
  • Check 'Boost, Compress Dynamic Range'
  • In order to maximize compatibility (and minimize playback problems) choose 'Lame 1' on the right, and then change 'Alt Preset->ABR->128' to 'Alt Preset->CBR->128'
  • Then change the bitrate in the same field to whatever you want.
    • If you select a bitrate lower than 128kbps, then lame will automatically downsample the audio to 32kHz. In order to avoid this, select 'Lame 2' on the right. Then check 'Sampling frequency of the output file' and change the value to 48 kHz.
  • Again, on the right, choose BeSweet
  • Now click 'AC3 to MP3' to transcode the audio
